Patriot Days Volunteers Needed!

Patriot Days
July 2nd 4 to 8 PM at Yellow Creek Park

We are excitedly working on an event to promote the education of the young people in our area on the principles of our founding fathers. Our goal is to get a pocket Constitution in the hands of every child in Daviess County. We have scheduled an event for July 2 at Yellow Creek Park’s Pioneer Village. It will take place from 4-8pm, but we will need help beginning at about noon that day to get the area ready for the kids. If you’re interested in sharing a few hours of work AND fun that day, please let me know. I’ve listed below a few areas in which we need help, but feel free to share any other ideas of your own.

Setting up tables
Handing out the Constitutions
Handing out the Programs
Fundraising
Pack Cleanup
Distributing and emailing flyers

Prizes
Kids’ Games & Crafts
Face Painting
Costumes/Sewing

To volunteer for one of the above contact Kristi at klpayne@bellsouth.net.

To volunteer for the Food Committee contact Sean at sphdysinger@aol.com.

Patriot Days Location

Nature Shelter and Pioneer Village at Yellow Creek Park

Kristi has met with Ross Leigh of the Daviess County Parks and Recreation and has confirmed Patriot Days July 2nd date for the Nature Shelter and Pioneer Village at Yellow Creek Park. I don't have photos to post but will have some soon.

Here is some info from the Daviess County Parks web site.

"Nestled along the wooded banks of Yellow Creek at Thruston, Kentucky. Yellow Creek Park provides a picturesque multi-faceted 152 1/2 acres of recreational and leisure challenges. The acreage features hiking trails, multi-purpose sports areas, a one room refurbished African American school house, as well as a look-out tower, a swinging bridge, outdoor pavilions with playground equipment, restrooms and an area of historic artifacts as depicted in our picnic tables and rustic seating. These tables are made of huge Limestone blocks that were quarried long before the Civil War."
